Self Linking

I was just browsing on TechCrunch and I must say I hate their practice of self-linking. By self linking, I’m referring to the way a website links back to itself (some other article) even though a link is perceived as an external link. For example, in this TechCrunch article about Friendster, the first word is a link to what I thought would be Friendster.com.  But it’s actually a self-link to a collection of TechCrunch articles with the tag friendster.  How disappointing.

I guess that’s a great way to get ad points and revenue.
